opengl background? - Macromedia Director 3D

Hi there what I am trying to figure out is how to make background of OpenGL effects applied on a texture for example. We are talking pure 2d here, just effect on texture. The 3d Asset Xtra in Director is direct to stage (DTS) only. As a matter of fact, one can make it to not to be DTS, but then the framerate drops like an anvil on my head - obviously it has someting in common with the hardware buffers of the video card I think. So my questions are: 1. Can it be done with Director and 3d ...

    Default opengl background?

    Hi there

what I am trying to figure out is how to make background of OpenGL effects
applied on a texture for example. We are talking pure 2d here, just effect
on texture. The 3d Asset Xtra in Director is direct to stage (DTS) only. As
a matter of fact, one can make it to not to be DTS, but then the framerate
drops like an anvil on my head - obviously it has someting in common with
the hardware buffers of the video card I think.

    So my questions are:

    1. Can it be done with Director and 3d Asset only?

    2. Has anyone of you guys know some opengl wrapper (plain DLL or activex)
which would allow me to use it as a background sprite without dropping the
framerate to 1-5 depending on the video? I can write the opengl code myself,
    so no problem.
