opening a document created in v 4.0.4
I have downloaded a trial version of Director MX 2004 to open a document
created in Director v 4.0.4. MX says that the document is too old to open. What

I think you will need someone with director 6.5 to update your 4.0.4
files an intermediate step.

Re: opening a document created in v 4.0.4
upgrading the files using every other version of Director works. I recently
updated some Videoworks 1.0 files by opening them first in Director 3.5, then
5, then 6 and finally 8.5. There were some problems instroduced with the
sprite inks, but otherwise I can now edit files I created twenty years ago
