Opening Adobe Indesign 2.0 for MAC OS 10.x on Adobe Indesign 2.0 for Win
I am trying to open Indesign 2.0 documents created on a Macintosh 10.x operating system in Adobe Indesign 2.0 on my PC. The program is running on Windows XP. While I can create new documents with my indesign I am unable to open documents already created in a Macintosh environment. Is there some way I can get around this? Or something that I can download that will allow me to do this?
Thanks!

Re: Opening Adobe Indesign 2.0 for MAC OS 10.x on Adobe Indesign 2.0 for Win
Hi,
First, the file doesn't register as an indesign file. The version that I am using on the PC is exactly the same version as I was using on the MAC. At least they both say they are 2.0, unless there is a difference in 2.0?!? Anyway, when I try to open from outside of Indesign it asks me to request a program to open it with. I choose indesign and it pulls up a box that asks me to open it as a various versions of a text file without formatting. It does the same thing if I try to open the file from within indesign. I was under the impression that they were cross platform as well, as all other adobe products are and so never thought there would be a problem. Any adivce?

Make sure that both machines are updated to 2.0.2 and with all other
patches.
And while it shouldn't matter when opening from directly within ID, it's
still good practice to add the INDD extension to your files. You'll need
it for Windows to know what kind of file it is.

Another thing to consider is how you are transferring the files... Windows File Sharing with OSX? Removable disk? HTTP? FTP? Email? The latter 3 require that you define/manage ASCII or BINARY transfer modes.
For best results, you should be opening the INDD files from a local drive.

Re: Opening Adobe Indesign 2.0 for MAC OS 10.x on Adobe Indesign 2.0 for Win
I burned the files, including all images fonts etc. onto a CD and then transferred the whole file to the hard drive of my PC. I then tried to open them that way. I will try with the .indd file extension and make sure both are 2.0.2 and see what happens. Thanks.

They are probably set as "read only". Remove this attribute and see if> I burned the files, including all images fonts etc. onto a CD and

that helps.
