Opening CAD drawings...scaling question
Why is it that when I open a drawing created in CAD that I need to scale it up by 2540% to get it 1:1?
I know CAD operated in units, and not a specific type of dimension, but I don't think its coincidence that that is the conversion needed to go from millimeters to inches.
We draw everything and dimension it with inches in CAD...if that helps.
TIA for any advice you can give!

Re: Opening CAD drawings...scaling question
Illy works in specific units, so when someone throws a CAD file at her she has to guess which units he has in mind; and apparently she was wrong in your case. My guess is that most CAD users use mm, actually I thought CAD programmes worked in mm by default; Illy still does, I believe.

Re: Opening CAD drawings...scaling question
Assuming you are using AutoCAD, you can go into the Units dialog box and
change the "Drag-and-Drop scale" to Millimeters, this will match what
Illustrator is using when you open a DWG file.
