opening corel draw 11 files on illustrator

Is there a plug in available? I'm on Illustrator CS; attempting to
open some corel draw 11 files.

KiddieDraw! 11 exports to Illustrator 6 & 7 format (from memory, maybe more).

How many files do you need to convert? If it's just one or two I'll convert them and send them back to you. Let me know if you need my email.

Sorry, I was having a little poke at CorelDraw! By calling it KiddieDraw!

I have CorelDraw 11 & 12. (For some reason my work keeps buying them even though I won't even install the rubbish) I could have converted one or two for you, but not thousands. You might have to look into {I can hardly bring myself to type this} buying Corel. Unless someone in here knows of any convertion software that might do it. Either way you may find you have a lot of cleaning up to do when you convert from CDR to AI.

If you are talking about Corel clipart, you NEED CorelDraw to open them. Those may be in CDR format, but actually it's a compressed version (similar to CMX) and propietary to Corel. If it was created by CorelDraw standard, Illustrator CS will open CorelDraw CDR version 10 files. If you have great numbers of standard (or clipart), I'd use CorelDraw and use CorelScript to batch convert them for use in Illustrator. You can do that by opening them, scripting to save to either .ai format or version 10 CDR.
