Opening hyperlinked sites in New Window

We are creating digital editions of some of our magazines using Acrobat 7 on the Mac. When we create those DEs we link the ads directly to the advertisers web sites and to the web sites referenced in editorial features. We post those DEs on our servers so readers can open them in their browser and read without necessarily saving to disk. A problem occurs when they click on one of those links and they go directly to the referenced web site without first opening a new window. It makes it very difficult (SLOW) for them to navigate back to the DE they were reading.

Can anyone provide insight as to how I might prompt that linked page to open in a New Window? Is that something I can add to the URL embedded in the hyperlink? Is that something that needs to be done on our server where the PDF Digital Editions are posted? Is that a browser preference? Or is that just not supported in PDF files opening in a browser?

Your suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

this is a browser choice...
i use fire fox and have choosen...

this choice opens a link in the same window but one tab down ...
i heard the other day that explorer 7 imitates much of fire fox ...
but i have not used explorer since i disabled it on both the mac and
the pc clone
so i have no idea what the preference choices are with explorer...
but the bottom line is ...
your troubles should be solved with choosing preferences for your
browser that best suite the way your office works...
