Opening Illustrator Files

I just received new Pepsi Label designs in Illustrator format and Freehand 10 had no problems opening them. FHMXa could not open it saying "Could not complete your request because an error occured" The file is made up of three DCS eps files and the Font Bullet-Regular (which I do not have installed), but still opens in FH10. Do I have to set Mxa in a special way to read these files?

Hi David,
The only setting I know of that would make a difference is Preferences >
Import > 'Convert editable EPS when imported'.

Hi Judy,

Nice to hear from you. I already have the suggested item selected in the preferences and even saved it as an Illustrator 7 file and still won't open in MXa. I tried saving the file as an .ai(AI7) and also as a eps(AI7) and still failed. FH10 opened all the files beautifully. Thanks for the suggestion.
