I was able to use StarOffice under SCO OS5 many moons ago using the
lxrun package but I don't think OpenOffice will do nowadays, not to
mention that I haven't tried by compiling the source under OS5.
Might I suggest the adoption/use/testing of UnixWare 7 ? It's able to
run native Linux apps using the LKP emulator (included at no cost with
the product itself) and, with the recent OKP (OpenServer Kernel
Personality) you'll be able to run OS5 binaries, again, without
recompiling or modifying the source code.
At this very minute, I'm composing this message under OpenUNIX8 (akas
UnixWare 7.1.2) with Netscape7 for Linux and I've just finished writing
a document with OpenOffice 1.0.3 for Linux, both running natively using
the LKP.
Just "food for thoughts",

same price so it's only a choice of yours; also, UW 7.1.3 comes with a
60days eval version which allows you to actually test if your accounting
software is able to run under the new platform.
Last, the OKP is a free of charge download from SCO's site (supposing
you already have a copy of SCO OpenServer CD in house) so, again, I
think it might be worth giving it a run.
Well, I dare to disagree here; I've been running SCOMerge on my> I tried even ScoMerge and then StarOffice but my fear is that even if I have

UnixWare7 box for YEARS and a) the speed of the emulation is really
remarkable and b) I've still to get a virus on my system (but the latter
could be related to the fact that I use Netscape7 for Linux under LKP to
read my email messages :-).
Keep in mind that, if you run SCOMerge/Windows as a non root user, a MS
virus could only damage your "virtual" Windows installation, which is
located under the $HOME/win folder; also, I think it's much easier even
to recover a complete Windows installation from a Linux/Unix backup then
having to completely reinstall Windows.
However, my advice would be not to read email message with
Outlook/Netscape under SCOmerge but to use a native Unix/Linux MUA instead.
Well, the choice is yours :-)>

Dear Roberto
This is a good news for me, because my big fear in using Sco Merge, is that> Keep in mind that, if you run SCOMerge/Windows as a non root user, a MS

for some reasons a virus will attack my server unix on the win virtual
installation it can for example erase, format all my HD. If is not possible
but only the virtual win installation will be damaged, then this can be the
right solutions for my problems.
Thanks a lot again
ciao
