-Images which are image masks"
THe file size is still 14 megs. Any ideas on how i can shrink this file?

Re: Optimizing PDF
First what is Image Masks? I received this same message, what does it mean? We are working with 4.0 reader due to an upgrade hold up the our main document management system. So we are receiving PDFs that are in 5.0 and 6.0. Some times it they must be optimized to 4.0 and we get the image masks error. Any suggestions??

Re: Optimizing PDF
First what is Image Masks?
From the guru of almost everything PDF, Aandi Inston, as posted in the PlanetPDF forums:
"An image mask is a 1-bit image, which is still an image, but unlike all other images, can be coloured. Also, it has no background colour; it only paints the foreground.
Nothing is wrong - these are normal parts of PDF. Some programs may use them for 1-bit images. A Photoshop EPS of a 1-bit image has the option "transparent whites" which effectively produces an imagemask when distilled."
I suggest you ignore the message from Acrobat. It's simply telling you that it could not downsample image masks which is no big deal.

Re: Optimizing PDF
Hi All,
I have a quite big document ~ 600 pages which i am trying to conevrt to pdf. I have some links in the doucment which are internal to the document. They work fine in word but when i convert the document to pdf two things happen :-
1) Some links don't work properly ( i.e jump to the wrong place than they
are supposed to )
2) Some links don't work at all.
I was wondering do any of you know what might cause this problem.
I currently have on my computer installed:-
a. Adobe Acrobat 5.0
b. Adobe Reader 5.0
c. Adobe Distiller 5.0
I have windows 2000 OS installed.

Re: Optimizing PDF
carl2 - you really need to post this as a new topic with an appropriate subject since your issue has nothing to do with optimizing PDFs.
