Orange
Does anybody have a CMYK mix for a good, bright orange?
I've got an advertiser who complains that the orange I've given him is 'too
brown' and he wants it 'more orangey'. Explaining that the orange in print
isn't going to be as bright as on the PDF proof won't get me very far. By
the time we get to accurate CMYK on paper it's too late.

Re: Orange
Sounds like you should take a process color swatch book to the customer and have them choose an orange.

Re: Orange
This is a guy who does layouts on a primitive word processor and expects me
to match them dot for dot. His colour specs are 'like that blue of so and
so's ad, but a bit lighter/darker/brighter'. And we're talking about ads
that wouldn't pay the bus fare.
I can normally meet requirements of this sort, but orange is a pig. I just
wondered if anyone had any favourite recipes for the best looking solid
colour.

Re: Orange
How about a process build of PMS 021 (0/51/87/0)? I sometimes use 021 as a generic orange for both spot and process jobs--it's the equivalent of 286 for blue or 185 for red when the customer just wants a solid color.

Re: Orange
I've also use 0/53/100/2.
Pretty close to what Scott uses though.
