OS X Server File Sharing Problems with Windows - Mac Applications & Software

We have an OS X Server that we backed up through a Windows 2000 Server with Arcserve. We had to do a clean install on the OS X server. Ever since then we can not get logged in to that share on the server other than allowing guest to connect. Default OS X Server File Sharing Problems with Windows

We have an OS X Server that we backed up through a Windows 2000 Server
with Arcserve. We had to do a clean install on the OS X server. Ever
since then we can not get logged in to that share on the server other
than allowing guest to connect. The only problem with guest is it
WILL NOT let us copy FOLDERS, it will only let us copy individual
files. When we turn off allow guest to connect off we are prompted
for a user name and password so we use the admin account and the user
accounts as well with no luck. We just get access denied every time.
We are missing something small here and just overlooking it I think.
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

i'm confused as to which server you can't log into?
    the Win2000 or OS X?

if it's the OS X server.
look to see if there's an 'smbpasswd' file created in
/private/var/db/samba. and that it has the username of the account you're
trying to use, and an encrypted password for them.

if not, then try using the command 'smbpasswd -a username' from terminal.
(no quotes - and username is the name of your username)

If you mean that windows clients can't connect to the OS X server, it's
because you need to configure the OS X server to handle windows clients.
You need to enable a password server on the OS X machine. (using the
open directory assistant) Next, you need to select the individual users
you want to be able to connect in WGM, click on the advanced tab, and
select password server from the drop down menu, then give them a
    password.

I suspect this may have been setup before you had to re-install OS X
server. Find a backup strategy for your server if you can afford it.
