You can just do "select rowcount" and return it.

Not sure about ADO.Net, but with ADO you could simply use the .RecordCount
    property of the RecordSet object.

I'm writing an application to take over what osql does
right now specifically running script using .NET.

One question that I have is that how to get the .NET
SqlInfoMessage to show number of rows affected exactly
just like what osql can do.

I can use ROWCOUNT but the thing is that I want to imitate the way osql
does ie you can send multiple statements and know exactly how many records
affected by each statement. And the result come into order ie.

    PRINT 'abc'
    INSERT INTO ..... VALUES(......)
    PRINT 'def'.

    It should print

    abc
    (1 row(s) affected)
    def
