OSX.4.8 and Acrobat
This may or may not be of interest. But thought people would might like to know for curiosity factor anyway.
I just installed OSX.4.8 system update. And then this morning used Acrobat 7.0.8 Pro.
Found the two following results:
Opening Acrobat is almost instantaneous now.
In previous version The spinning Beach Ball spun, and spun, and spun for as much as up to 30 seconds or more.
when using PDF Optimizer in OSX.4.8 when going through process of Consolidating Fonts the spinning Beach ball appears and runs for as long as 30-45 seconds or more. in versions previous the beach ball did not appear but the indicator bar would go back and forth depending upon how many fonts.
I also noted on a PDF document in which 4 additional pdf's were merged in the one opened resulting in a 12 page pdf; when I went to Optimizer and looked for fonts to remove the was 20 or more instances of helvetica font were present plus one geneva, one benguait, one helvetica bold. This was in a combination of a quicken and FileMaker document. Similar document on OX previous to 4.8 might result in 4 instances of Helvetica.
Can anyone explain the differences?
