Re: OT: Fuji FinePix S7000 6.3 MP
Unfortunately, it's not an DSLR -- and you would be limited to the provided Zoom-lens.
For another $400 you could get a DSLR.

Re: OT: Fuji FinePix S7000 6.3 MP
That genre does not claim to be a DSLR; it fits in your pocket. That genre (not that camera in particular) is what it is. E.g. I always ski and ride my bikes with my CP5000 but only ski/ride with a full size SLR for particular events. On the other hand, an SLR or two is always in my Suburban.

Re: OT: Fuji FinePix S7000 6.3 MP
Allen,
It wasn't my intention to put down this particular camera. I'd feel the same about any other camera of this particular “genre”, as you put it.

Re: OT: Fuji FinePix S7000 6.3 MP
However, for an amateur backpacking (no horse <g>) with that genre is better than backpacking with no camera at all. A really competent, experienced film photog could perhaps do best with something like one of the mini 35 mms from Leica. But the skill level that ensures that the film pix you think you are composing on such cameras will come out takes years of experience and large $ cost. The genre described allows a beginner to see what is composed and verify how it will come out, in real time, for free.

See? Not all new technology means progress. My horses beat your bike. :D

Hello, Beautiful Photoshop Guys and Gals :)
I wanted to post the camera for forum visitors and those looking for a kinda cheap camera. Also, if any of you are familiar with Costco you will know that they have a fantastic return policy.
Unfortunately, it's not an DSLR -- and you would be limited to the provided
Zoom-lens.
Yes, you are right :) those thinking of getting this camera should consider this. Thanks for catching this Ann :)
Like a good photographer, Allen points out some very good points.
love & peace,
victor :)
