Out of memory message

I keep receiving a message in Illustrator "Out of memory". I have a gig of RAM memory and plenty of paging space. Is there a setting or cache/temp folder that is application needs. Thanks!

Edit>Preferences>Plug-ins and Scratch Disk

Set the scratch to a drive with lots of free space

I am also getting the error "Insufficient memory was available to open .." I have 1 GB of RAM and have changed the Scratch Disk to the C: drive (40 GD) and still get the message.

I have never registered cause i hate to register takes time alway from doing work but I had this same problem and i just could not figure it out and it seems no one had the answer well i believe i have it for everyone. What i did is used my ccleaner and fixed the registry then i used the deflagger and defragged me C harddrive fully defrag! and walla! I could save my illustrator files that was a banner 24" X 32" that i could not even save it in the smallest PDF file at low res. Well i hope this works for you guys good luck.
