Default Outline fonts - THICK & BLURRED in PDF

The fonts converted to outline is found to be more thick and blurred
when the document or post-script file is converted to PDF.

I am processing PDF in a large scale for web publications; and this
problem is coming-up as a time consuming activity.

Now, to avert this problem, I am rasterising the outline fonts, which is a
herculean time consumer. (This is done with the original file, and then
the distilling process is carried-over again. Can fonts be rasterised in
    Acrobat. If so how?)

Could somebody of you suggest some alternative to prevent THICKENING and
    BLURRING of outline fonts.

    Thanking you,

Do not convert type to outlines is the best suggestion to make. Type comes with it's own smoothing and line art does not.
So why convert to outline in the first place?

In any case if you are using Acrobat 5
going to edit>preferences>general>display and enable the smooth line art option might just do the trick.

Print the PDF to Distiller and set the fonts to bitmap.
