Outlines "1"s not showing correctly

When I use Acrobat 6.0 or the Distiller, it is not converting some of my outlined text correctly. I made my pages in Illustrator and outlined all the text and then saved them as eps files. The problem is some of the outlined "1"s are turning into 3 dots. I have messed with the settings in Acrobat but the results are always the same. Any help?

okay, it turns out it's any small box that looks like a "1" or an "l" or anything like that. when i open the file up in Illustrator (i dont have InDesign) the box is a stroked line instead of a filled box. i also tested with setting a different color than black and everything looks fine then. just wondering if anyone was facing this problem as well.

I've seen it a few times. Note that while Illustrator 10 may show the outlined text as you want it to, Illustrator CS will show the problem text the same way Acrobat does (making it somewhat easier to fix).
