    Default Outlining Fonts

I'm trying to outline fonts in Acrobat so that I can open a document in Illustrator. I use the PDF Optimizer to outline the fonts. But when I go back into the optimized file, it allows me to select text. I thought it was outlined?!

Any ideas what I might be doing wrong? Or alternate ways to open a PDF in Illustrator without losing the fonts?

If you don't have the fonts on your system, you can't outline them. If you DO have the fonts on your system, the PDF can be opened directly in Illustrator.

Acrobat doesn't have a general facility for outlining text. Some
people see the options in the PDF optimizer, and think that's what
they've found, but this is part of the transparency flattener; no
transparency, and the flattener doesn't run.

What Aandi said is true, but it's fairly easy to add some transparency to a pdf via the document> add watermark/background option.

Just add an empty pdf set to 1% transparency. Now the transparency flattener will outline fonts.
