Over saturation when printing

The issue-

A. I make a file in InDesign. It contains places photoshop files and tinted text boxes make in InDesign. All images are CMYK.
- Print the InDesign file on home printer. Colors are fine.
- Export as a PDF, print quality, on home printer. All colors over saturated. The text boxes as well as the placed psd files.
* *I understand that my home printer is changing the CMYK files to RGB. - Take the exported PDF files to print house. All colors over saturated, badly.

B. Some of these same images in Photoshop I needed to export as a PDF.
- Print origanl psd file on home printer. Colors are fine.
- Print exported PDF file THROUGH PHOTOSHOP (not through Acrobat). Colors are fine.
- Take PDF to print house where he uses Acrobat. All colors are over saturated.

Of course this points me to some setting in Acrobat for both the printer and me.
But what? Where? How?

Oops...Acrobat 6.0 Pro version on a Mac OS 10.2.8. InDesign and Photoshop CS.

OK - let's try something simple first .. in the PRINT menu - select
ADVANCED and then under COLOR PROFILE - ensure you have SAME AS SOURCE
(No color management) ...

It is still over saturated after making that change.

I guess it is onto a non-simple idea.

Just so you know- I have printed out a copy from InDesign to judge others against. This print matches very close to the screen image.

Have you ran a preflight on the pdf in Acrobat pro, to make sure the colours are CMYK and not RGB?

Are all the printers being used inkjets? And if so, are they 4 cartridge models or are they the "deluxe" photo 6/8 cartridge models?
Some printers take the CMYK files, change them to their internal RGB space, then translate that space to the cartridges (CMYK plus light this & that).
Paper/media might be exhibiting dot gain in the mid-tones, too . . .

Yes, I ran the preflight to make sure they are CMYK.
&
My desktop is a cheapo hp that I am sure is changing from CMYK to RGB.
However - why would a CMYK InDesign file print different than a CMYK Acrobat file? The printer is changing both correct?
The native InDesign file is fine but exported as a PDF and printed through Acrobat over saterates things. Mostly Cyan. That the color that is doing it from what I can tell.

I am out of the office (where that project is) so I can not today. HOwever I did get things straight with the print house. It turns out they had something set wrong, which of course helped them with some other things they had going on.
Now that that is straight my project is printing fine from their machine.
It does not explain the exporting change from InDesign to a PDF. But I am going to have to let this forum topic go for now... to much stuff to do at the moment.
