This is not available in Photoshop 6, but Elements 2 has a terrific feature called Photomerge <http://homepage.cs.uri.edu/tutorials/PhotoshopEl/Help/help.html> which allows one to create panoramas or stitch a collage of photos together. Looks like something similar was used to create the image on the webpage.

I assume you mean the image not the random access of the image which was
created by JavaScript. The easy way to do it is to select a portion of an
image using, say, the rectangular marquee but with the tool feathered at 50
and then paste this onto another image.
