Default overprint fill with multiple colors question

I have some text in two different colors layed on top of a colored background.

If I highlight all the text, I can't get overprint fill to stay on. Or if I select all the text with either selection tool I can't get the overprint fill to stay on.

So I have to highlight one color, choose overprint fill from the Attributes pallet, then highlight the other color and repeat.

Anyone else have this experience, or know a way around that?

    Philip,

It works fine with me (AI10), but the AIPrefs file is full of overprint options; maybe it is a corruption. So FAQ item #4 might be a solution to this one, too. You know, the usual invocation.

Thanks, I'll try it on a couple of other computers where I work and see if it happens on all the other ones.

Hmmm, seems to work OK, in ill 10, but not CS. P'raps counts as a bug, or anti-feature.

    Killing prefs didn't help.

Would it be nice if we had the option to select "Underprint".... :-)

Meaning.. No object on top of me can knock a hole in me... And maybe
also a more humble "Underprint" Saying... All object on top of me knocks
a hole in me... Could make a lot of jobs easier... :-)

Just come to think of another one, ... Underprint stroke.. meaning, the
fill knocks out, the stroke overprints.... :-)
