Overprinting line display problem
I have expierienced a problem with Freehand 11 &11.0.1 when applying an overprint to a line weight. The problem is that sometimes when the overprint is added the line dissapears, sometimes it changes like a handle problem, sometimes it appears to move. I think this might be a display issue as I have run a couple of the jobs with this problem through my rip and the appeared ok after ripping. If I open the file in 9 and set the line to overprint it looks fine. If I then save the file and open it in 11 the problem shows up again. I'm using a dual G5 and OS 10.2.7.
Has anyone else noticed this or know what is happening?
Thanks

Re: Overprinting line display problem
I don't see this, but perhaps I'm using different parameters.
If you have checked the redraw preference 'Display overprinting objects', FH
draws little o's all over the color to alert you that overprint has been
applied. Perhaps you have this pref set differently in FH9 and FH11.
With this pref checked and overprinting applied to a very fine, light
colored stroke, it might make it seem to disappear.
Sometimes these issue are related to video drivers. Check to make sure that
you have the latest driver for your video card.

Re: Overprinting line display problem
I have uploaded a couple screen shots here. The problems seems to get better or worse depending on the rotation of the object. You can see in the first sample how part of the converted type is cut off when set to overprint, there is no line weight on this sample. In the second sample the entire line vanishes when op is applied (line weight is .043").
All preferences appear to be ok, my Mac is a G% that I just got last week, the card does not show on the ATI driver site, so no updates for it yet. I am familiar with FH having used it since v7 and believe all settings are as they should be. This problem appears also on a different machine, a G4 running FH11, OS 10.2.7.

Re: Overprinting line display problem
Wow! Yeah, I'm seeing the same thing! Here's my beauty:
http://www.JudyArndt.ca/fhmx/overprint_stroke_FHMXa.gif
Two lines of text converted to paths, stroke with overprint. Whole group
rotated. Forcing redraw doesn't fix it -- just changes where the errors
fall.
I suspect this has something to do with the new group behavior. If you
subselect down to the letters and then rotate, this doesn't happen. Error is
in Preview mode only. Fast Preview displays normally.
Make sure you report this to the bug list:
