Page Locking Up
Trying to determine why Contribute3 is locking up and not let me edit a page.
After I edit an publish the same page a couple of times, the software thinks
another computer is currently editing the same page.
Any suggestions.

Re: Page Locking Up
This is exactley what is happening to us also. It is extremley frustrating!!!!
Please advise us what to do.
I have teachers editing pages that I have made . My test teacher has four
classes that she wants to post homework to each day. She can do two classes and
then the third time she go to post to a different page, contribute locks her
out!!! Please tell us why this is happening.
Here is this teachers site. The homework pages are links on the left hand
side. We have purchased an expensive site license for our whole high school and
we are most dissapointed in this problem. My teachers will not be able to post
homework if this keeps happening and our money spent on a site license will be
wasted!

Please tell me why this is going on.
Thanks,
Nancy

Re: Page Locking Up
This is exactly what's happening to me - does anyone from Adobe read these
forums? I am about to be stung for ?600 to make my site updateable, which is
entirely unacceptable. Have contacted my 'Adobe reseller' who tells me the
problem is Adobe's not theirs, and I should contact them? I am having serious
trouble figuring out how to do that....
this is probably the worst service I've ever had on any produce. I'd gladly
ditch Contribute forever, but am tied into it now... clearly a mistake. I'll
make sure everyone knows I think that.

Re: Page Locking Up
I have found that Contribute locks files on the webserver. You will have to go
to the server and do a search for .lck or .lck*. Delete all these files and
the end user will have access to edit them again. These are temporary files
and will not hurt your original file.
It took me a long time to figure this out. If you do not have access to the
server, ask you server admin to do a daily search for these files. If you use
library items, it will lock every file that is updated.

Re: Page Locking Up
Yes, contribute does lock files. You can have your publishers unlock these
files if you give permission to them to delete files. They just have to type
..LCK at the end of the url that is locked. That brings up the lck file. They
then go to... file ...actions...delete page. Make sure they are deleting the
lck page and not a real page.
However this does not work when the problem is being locked out of the page
for the third access. The teacher would have to close and then open contribute.
That seems really unnecessary when the teacher needs to quickly add an
assignment to her pages. The publishers should be able to edit three different
pages!!!
Please someone from Contribute COULD YOU PLEASE READ AND ANSWER THIS QUESTION!
Thank, Nancy

Re: Page Locking Up
I've been having this same LCK file issue for over 3 years!
I hit Publish, then have to quickly FTP to my server and delete the lck files.
see my recent post http://tinyurl.com/2a9vhm
I too wish someone from Adobe would address this issue!
