Default Page Numbering - last page number

How can I get InDesign 2 to do an auto-page number like

    Page X of Y

The X bit is easy, but I can't work out how to get Y which is the total number of pages in the document.

You can't. It can probably be scripted but you're far better off just
adding the number yourself when you're done.

Another thought would be to do a text block on the master page/s and type Page A / 24 (A being the insert auto page number). This would only work if you know what the final number of pages are. But you can change this number on the master page anyway and it would automatically update each page. The auto number works regardless of text before and after it.
