Page Setup changes when printing

Illustrator 10 is giving me problems. I am running Panther. When I created my page set up, tabloid size, either landscape or portrait and I print, it changes before my eyes to a letter size, portrait and prints. I am printing to a HP8550N. It happens whether it is a new document or an old one. After I re-adjust the settings again it doesn't seem to happen. It's kind of annoying and I'd love to resolve it.

I keep getting an error like this when I try to change the page setup to match my document setup. I can't change the page setup at all. I'm working in System 9, Illustrator 10.

Cameron,

You most likely opened the file by double-clicking on it. Try open the file from the File menu in AI.

that nifty little trick didn't work for ME. I still get:

Can't change page set up options.

Any other bright ideas?

You're sure that you Opened the file after starting AI and then used the Open command? I've never seen that happen.

I tried opening from the file and still get the same problem with printing. I have a G-4, using AI 10 and have an epson Stylus 880. It was working just fine, then this started and I can not get it to print to full size on Legal it changes to Letter no matter what.

Trash AI preferences? If you had it working before, that's the first thing to do if something isn't working the way it was.

Hi Gang,
Here’s a strange one. Has anybody tried setting their page set up to print at 55%, 56%,57% or 58% ?. The page margin and size is doing some wacky stuff. 54% and 59% seem fine. Hmmmm
