Page sizes in multiple fold docs
A little of topic, and posted in adobe illustrator forum (shouldv'e known
better)...
I know this is horribly basic, but I've got 2 different suggestions from my
printers the last 2 times I've mentioned it and the last answer does't make
sense:
What would the "page Sizes" be of a trifold leaflet (6 page fold) finished
size DL. A4 is 297, so if each were even it would be 99 x 3. The advice I
got is that you lose a mm for each roll fold: If you were looking at the
front (where the "cover page" is the one on the right) the suggested sizes -
reading from left to right - were 98,99,100 But surely the middle panel is
the one that should be the biggest? So it would be 98,100,99.
I'd love a definitive anser!
The last reply suggested 100,100,97 as the standard in Australia, which
would make the front fold smaller than the other 2. Cant believe thats
right!?

Re: Page sizes in multiple fold docs
In my experience it works well to make the front panel and the middle panel
the same width and the third panel, which, when folded, "tucks inside" the
other two, slightly narrower. Thus the Australian setup suggested (with the
order reversed) would be my pick.

You want the 'front' to be the largest so that it's easier to open (look
at how things like greeting cards have the front larger)

up with a 100x210 leaflet, with plenty of room for the tuck-in section.
I've seen other measurements used, for instance 98, 99.5, 99.5.
