    Default PageMaker upgrade to InDesign

I was hoping someone could help me. My office creates dozens of financial data reports in PageMaker. The reason why we use PM is it is easy to automate reports (including text, tables, and graphs/charts). At the end of each period, I just update the underlying Excel tables and graphs and everything is easily updated in PM.

Our graphics designer is pushing for our group to switch to InDesign due to the new PM plug-in package. I see a data merge, which is good, but I don't see any mention of the other ODBC-related functions (i.e., place text, insert objects). I understand ID wins hands-down vs. PM for design capability, but what about for data reports and connectivity??

    Thanks!

If you've been simply inserting Excel spreadsheets using edit>insert
object, you'll need to change your workflow. ID doesn't support this.
