    Did you save the template in a folder named "Templates" in the top level
    of the root of the site, and which contains nothing else?
    Where do you have the CSS?

    Hi Murray,

    No, the stylesheet is in the main site root folder, the template in the templates folder.

    Murray & Dan

    I'm sorry I can't give you a URL right now - this is a new site that I've so far only tested on my local server.

    To answer Dan's questions: I believe the site is properly defined, local info only. The site root folder is specified, and the css is in that folder, not in any subfolder. The Templates folder is also within the site root folder and there is just the one template file there.

    The template file looks fine and IS linked to the stylesheet. But when I hit "New - New from template" choose the site, choose that template and hit "create" the new page is not linked to the stylesheet. The new page has this comment on the top:

    <!-- InstanceBegin template="/Templates/main.dwt" codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->
    <link href="file:///G|/temp/Web%20backup/2003%20site%20update/macucc-style2.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">
    <!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="head" -->

    Does it matter where the (style type="text/css") and the (link href="../xx.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css") are located in the template's code. Do they need to be inside editable regions? Or should they not be?

    Thanks,
    Tiffany

    I think you should try this:

    Open the template again. Delete the link to the style sheet (either in
    code view or in the CSS panel).
    Then, in the CSS panel, hit "Link to stylesheet" (or whatever it says).
    In the dialog window you get, look at the bottom of it and change the
    little drop down menu so it says that you applying a doent relative
    path. Find the style sheet and click OK.
    Save and update the spawned pages as usual.

    Reason: You seem to have applied a root relative path:

    Dan:

    That's a broken link, not a Root Relative path. If she does what you have
    advised, however, it will be fixed anyhow, i.e., remake the link, assuming
    that this path/file is within the currently defined site.

    2003%20site%20update/macucc-style2.css
     [/ref]
    href="../xx.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css") are located in the
    template's code. Do they need to be inside editable regions? Or should they
    not be?

    If you want that link to be in each child page, then it should not be in an
    editable region, which will only cause it to appear in child pages spawned
    subsequent to placing the link. Existing child pages would not be updated
    with the link, since editable region changes in templates are not
    propagated.
