Panels appear in the wrong place - Macromedia Freehand

Mac 9.2.2, freehand 8. Recently I had to format and reinstall OS due to disk error. After reinstalling Freehand it now opens my panels randomly around the pasteboard rather than next to the arrow as before. I.E: if I click on the arrow to open the magnification panel, rather than just growing out & up, it opens up in the pasteboard as a seperate panel ( every other panel acts the same). Also, in the tint panel if I click to select a color I can hear the panel open but as of yet I can't find it. So far ...

Default Panels appear in the wrong place

Mac 9.2.2, freehand 8. Recently I had to format and reinstall OS due to disk
error. After reinstalling Freehand it now opens my panels randomly around the
pasteboard rather than next to the arrow as before. I.E: if I click on the
arrow to open the magnification panel, rather than just growing out & up, it
opens up in the pasteboard as a seperate panel ( every other panel acts the
same). Also, in the tint panel if I click to select a color I can hear the
panel open but as of yet I can't find it. So far I have re-installed freehand,
trashed preferences and trashed the tools folder. It may not seem like a huge
problem but it affects productivity by first having to find the open panel and
then travel across the screen to make the change.

You said you trashed the tools folder. Did you trash the Toolbars file? FH
must not be running when you do this.

Did you replace your hard drive or reformat only? If the current drive is
failing it could be causing more problems. Disk First Aid could verify it
    for you.

Are you using a third-party video card? Check with the manufacturer of your
video card for an updated driver. In your case, you might have to use an
older driver that works with OS 9.2.2, not one designed for OS X.

I had a bad sector that was unrepairable by disk first aid or tech tools and I
was forced to reformat to repair it. I was due for a clean sweep anyway. I have
had no disk problems since so I doubt that was/is the problem. Video card and
hard drive are original to the machine. I have had a few instances where the
panels acted normal but 99% of the time they're ed up. I'll try trashing
the toolbars file. Thanks for your input.
