Well, there are CMYK-ink– and printing–systems that are capable of simulating a far greater number of PMS-colours than used to be possible in ye olde days (not to mention six and eight colour processes).
Your best bet is to get some proper output-profiles and use those to soft proof (IF your monitors are calibrated, of course).

Your best bet is to get some proper output-profiles and use those to soft
proof (IF your monitors are calibrated, of course).
For that to work you would have to use Lab swatches.
Even if you could come up with Pantone's source CMYK profile, out-of-gamut CMYK defined swatches would be clipped inside of that CMYK space and you would no longer be able to take advantage of a larger gamut device. To get the large gamut you need to start with a device independent space like Lab.
