pantone gradients
I was asked to transform a logo form raster art to an illustrator file, I‘ve got the shapes down but as a raster image it had a gradient. The person I’m doing this for wants it in a pantone color for print, the gradient being from paper to the pantone color. Is there any way that I can do this? Make a gradient from transparent (or CMYK white) to a pantone color? It also has to remain vector art. I am using version 10.0.3. Thanks in advance for any help.

Make it from 100% to 0% of your spot color.

PANTONE Gradients
Hello Friends,
PANTONE Gradients can be created in Illustrator too!
Drag the required PANTONE colors (from the PANTONE color swatch) in-to the
first and the last color-stop's, of the gradient slider. PANTONE Gradient
is ready.
Any contradictions? Please do comment.
Thanks,

Re: PANTONE Gradients
Well, yeah, you have to remember to change screen angles when you print so you don't get a moire pattern.

Re: PANTONE Gradients
Gradients (spot colours) are very well described in Adobe Illustrator User Guide.
Note, if spot colour gradients are created then you must deselect Convert to Process in the Separation Setup dialog box to print the gradient in individual spot color separations.

You are absolutely right Mr.Dayakar, and you seem to be thorough with the
Adobe Illustrator User Guide. We have great pleasure to have a person like
you in the forum.
You are not a person who should limit your postings and talents just to
the forum. But, there is a chance for you to get into the Illustrator
development team. Good Luck!

WoW!!! Lince, It's a nice joke :-)) I like it.
I appreciate your tips posted earlier. I presume you have mastered Illustrator and hope that you would definitely be posting more tips in future which will be very helpful for the newbies' like me. My previous message in this thread which I thought might be beneficial to the forum members who are not aware of this.
I am very optimistic that you have a strong chance to become a member of the Illustrator Development Team :-).
Best Wishes ...

Re: PANTONE Gradients
The possibility of an active member of Adobe User Forum, being unaware of
the Adobe Illustrator User Guide is very strange and I am not for believing
it. The User guide is a good one. But, It is in a condensed format, which
give room for user forums like this. And here we share information
acquired to newbies, amatures, professionals and developers.

WoW!!! Lince, It's a nice joke
That was not a joke Dayakar; mind you, Many of the active members might be presuming that you are an illustrator Guru, bcos even Steve Werner who moderates this coveted Adobe forum never asks someone to look into their manuals or user guide. The main reason for that is; everyone who make use of this forum might be a good Adobe User(so definitely he might be aware of the user guide you mentioned).
Most of the persons who come here and post some queries and tips are either bigtime professionals who have been working through out their career with not only Adobe products but lot other pre-press and graphics related softwares or who may have something to do with Printing technology atleast in this Illustrator, Indesign, Pagemaker forums.
Thanks

Hi Brijith, if you think that there is no humour in my message to Mr. Lince, then you are an exceptional case and with antaean-heart I would say you definitely lack ...
Ah! It's is ironic that you are speaking about Mr. Steve Werner.

Are you a good user of the User Guide? Anent the user guide, this thread was not intended to give awareness about Illustrator documentations/help but about the subject that was first posted by Mr. Lince regarding spot colour gradients and my addendum to it and which could be helpful for those who are not aware of this subject.

Oh ya..I never knew you people were cracking jokes here, i thought
you both were husky Adobe users and professionals, you still want
to crack and share some jokes try this <http://www.topjokesites.com> out
Then about my humour sense...leave it mate, it's beyond your wildest
thoughts.
Ah! It's is ironic that you are speaking about Mr. Steve Werner
But i dont think so, i guess even Mr.Lince wont be thinking likewise.
Are you a good user of the User Guide?
I dont recommend to use the user guide, because as Mr.Syam hinted
its quite in a condensed form, better try to get help online either
in the official adobe sites or other or even in good user forums apart from this one.
..subject that was first posted by Mr. Lince regarding spot colour gradients
and my addendum to it and which could be helpful for those who are not

You are right, you are always welcome to post any informative tips.
But what i commented was about your posting to refer the user guide
which was quite unethical atleast in this or any other forum. The
point is if you have some informative tips to pass, you just clearly
mention it so that anyone who does'nt know about this can understand
it. "Anyway no hard feelings mate".
Is it so :) thank's for this info Brijith

Re: PANTONE Gradients
Hi ,
Trying to swap a pantone color in a gradient. I added a new Pantone Swatch in to my "swatches" palette and merged swatches. Gradations that have the Pantone color as screen values ie 60% in the gradations are ignored, everything goes to 100%. Is there a solution to this?
thx paulw

Re: PANTONE Gradients
Paul,
I think it was a problem solved with AICS, at least it works on the WinXP side.
If I understood your question you load some Pantone swatches, build gradients, and instead of using 100% values you set the points to a lower value, that's, you use tints of those Pantone colors and then select another Pantone swatch and one of the Pantones used and go to Merge Swatches menu in the Swatches palette. Right? Well I see them replaced with the same tint values.
Are you on AI10 then?

Federico
