Paragraph Styles - Next...
InDesign CS2
I have agreed on doing a guide containing mostly Postal code - names and
phone numbers. I get the text from a database in an Exel file, and I
save as a tabseparated textfile.
I have (almost) made it function nicely with intense use of nested
styles.
But - every time I have a new postal code it is used as a small headline
followed by a hard return.
I have to change this hard return manually to a forced line break to
make InDesign Nested Style recognize it. This is hard labour.
Can I use next style instead? (I cannot manage to do it).
Or can I only make a paragraph style with Nested styles within _one_
(paragraph) hard return?
Sorry if my description isn't crystal clear.

Re: Paragraph Styles - Next...
First, define the styles with the Next Style attribute appropriately set. So you'll likely have two Paragraph Styles, "Address sans PC" and "Postal Code", with each being the other's Next Style setting.
Make an Object Style that applies a Paragraph Style (like "Address sans PC") and turn on the Use Next Style attribute. Finally, apply that Object Style to a text frame containing only the address stuff.

Re: Paragraph Styles - Next...
Thanks Scott, it seems this is not my way to go as I cannot do seperate
textframes:

I wish I could change the hard return using a find - replace a hard
return followed by 2 or 3 word to a Forced Line Break.
I'll try replacing every occasion og "return return" to something else,
hopefully leaving my single return to be replaced with a Forced Line
Break...
This job has to be done as automaticly as possible, or I will give it
away.

Re: Paragraph Styles - Next...
Done - simple. I works doing replacing "return return" to bullits - then
replacing my single hard return before finally replacing the bullits
back to hard returns.
Sorry asking such simple question. Helps explaing the problem you know.
