Re: password
Mike,
A quick question on this if I can. This is the way I have my system
set up, using the WELCOME option, which does not require a password.
However, when I first installed the system, I did assign a password
(pretty sure) to the Administrator account that was built on Original
Administrator Account that first comes up.
If I "uncheck" the Welcome option, it should go back to that account,
is that correct? The only reason I hesitate is that while quite sure
the password I wrote down is that correct one, I don't want to leave
myself without an option to get back to the Welcome account, which does
not have a password assigned....

Or
Reboot to Safe Mode, select Administrator, leave password blank.
Then go to User Accounts in Control Panel.
Select the user and change the password.
If you are using Windows XP Pro and have encrypted data, you may
permanently lose access to the encrypted data.
Here are other options:
http://www.wininternals.com/products/repairandrecovery/index.asp
http://www.sunbelt-software.com/product.cfm?id=265&affid=wxpnews
Another option is to install Windows XP on another partition and take
Ownership of your data.
You could also perform another installation on the same partition,
although this is not a permanent fix and it is recommended to perform
a Clean Installation after retrieving your data.
After this is resolved, take precautions to not lose the password.

Password
XP will not remember any password I enter. I always check
the 'Save Password' box and have read every artile I could
find on this subject.
I am not sure but it may have something to do w/ the fact
that I get this error message when I try to register
RSABase.dll:
LoadLibrary("rsabase.dll") failed - The specified module
could not be found.
This was an included solution provided by microsoft on an
article that fit my problem.

EFS, Credentials, and Private Keys from Certificates Are Unavailable After a
Password Is Reset
You'll probably have to fix all Accounts you have passworded etc
Windows Home XP
1. As windows is loading up press F8 repeatedly until the Windows advanced
screen comes up.
2. Select safe mode (the version of windows you want to use click XP wait
until it loads the welcome screen.
3. Select Administrator and it will log you on as administrator without a
password (provided a password was not created in this hidden account during
setup).
4. Go to Start - Control Panel - User Accounts.
5. Select your name and click change the password.
Then you should be able to change the password, shut down the computer and
restart in normal mode and use the new password you just created.
****
If you have XP Pro on your computer:-
1. At the log in screen type " ctrl-alt-delete " twice.
2. In the User Account, type Administrator
3. Leave the password blank and press enter.
(Most likely a password wasn't created in this hidden account during setup).
If you decide to set a password it is recommended that you create a
Password Reset Disk by clicking on "Prevent a Forgotten Password" link in
the left pane. The Wizard will guide you through.

password
hi, my grandparents have a Gateway laptop with windows
XP. For some reason they made two user names but only use
one. So whenever they turned on their laptop, both user
names came up and they had to choose the one they wanted.
They asked my to make it so the user name that they used
would just come up when they turned on the laptop. I
switched it and restarted the laptop. The user login came
up and asked for the user password, they did not know it.
What do they do??? hope it is understandable and thanks

Re: password
Reboot the computer while holding down the F8 key to get to the Advanced
options. Select Safe Mode. You should see the Administrator account. There
is likely no password so just press Enter. Once into Safe Mode select
Control Panel User Accounts and make your changes. You could simply delete
one of the their previous accounts and then give the one they want to use
Administrator privileges. Don't just make it a Limited account.

Re: Password
Hi,
Somewhat vague question, but ...
If you mean you want to protect your source files from being seen by someone
who doesn't know the password then I don't think so.
If you mean you want to protect your projector from being copied, then my
company's product Castellan might help. But I don't _think_ that's what you
mean !

Re: Password
>>or something?
There is the 'or something' - in Director you can use the Xtras menu -
Update Movies to protect your .dir files and turn them into .dxr files...
then nobody can open them in Director and look at, or modify the source. I
guess not exactly what you're after but they are protected nonetheless.

Password
We have bought DirectorMX and have tried to install it on a Powerbook G4. When
we try to run the program it requests authentication and refuses to accept any
password we think we have used. We are complete Mac novices and have the added
problem that we are logged onto Macromedia via my NTLWorld broadband connection
to my PC. Can anybody tell me what we are doing wrong as we can not use the
program at all.
thanks

Re: Password
Hi,
What version of Director MX are you trying to install? In OS X, you will be
asked for the administrators name and password in order to install softwares.
This is a security feature of Mac OSX and not director. Is this the dialog box
you're seeing?
If you have recently bought the product and having difficulty installing it
then the best thing to do is to call our Customer Service Department at: (800)
470-7211.

Password
I developed a page a while ago which was password protected and I can't
remember how to do it again. Does anyone know how to do this?? A box came out
asked for username and password and if it was correct it continued on to the
page that was ok for them to see. (I gave out the username and password) I
needed the same username & password for everyone I gave access to the page.
