Re: pasting text
Hi Hughster,
FH has a limitation on the total amount of text it can paste onto a text box. Maybe you can paste it a few times and created 2 or more text boxes.
thanks

Re: pasting text
Thanks for the responses. I still haven't been able to solve the problem. I am on a Mac; is that why I don't know what 'notepad' is?

Re: pasting text
I guess notepad is a PC app. sorry. Is there a simple ascii text editor on a
mac?
You essentially need to strip out any formatting from the text which I've
found Freehand doesnt like when copying text blocks from Word to Freehand.
By pasting it into notepad it removes all the junk and then I can copy/paste
in Fh without any problems.

Re: pasting text
It's usless whatever you do if you have super long text to paste into FH,
(think is about 22,000 words)
cos there is a limited to the number of text you can paste into the text box
itself. You have to break it up
or Freehand will behave wiredly.
btw, you can just copy for MS word and paste special unformated text, also.
If your text is not long enought to reach the maximum limit.

Pasting text
When you paste, Indesign CS doesn't retain the original format of the pasting text. Until there it's good. The problem is that the text keep the format of the last paragrah of my Indesign layout. It's very annoying when all my paragrahs are full justified with the last line aligned left but with the last paragraph full justified with a flush space in front of a decorative glyph. So all my paragraphs become also full justified. It isn't more sensible that the pasting text is rather based on the first paragraph?

Re: Pasting text
Notice in General Preferences that you can switch on or off the ability to paste with styles or without. If you paste without styles, the text can easily be formatted to your paragraph style at a click. You can also alt-click to apply a paragraph style and at the same time over-ride any local formatting. Also, you can alt-shift click to apply the paragraph style that will over-ride all extra formatting including character styles.
Your pasting of text is influenced by the paragraph that you are clicked into. Are you working with paragraph styles, or are you formatting as you go?

Re: Pasting text
To get rid of all formattings you could paste the text into Notepad and then
copy from there to Inddesign.

Re: Pasting text
I'm working with paragraph styles but for my last paragraph I have to put full justify with a flush manually.
