Pathfinder use on web images

How do I change a web image in Illustrator 11 so that I can use the buttons with the web images that I pasted into my document?

Subject contains "Pathfinder", so I'll guess she wants to use pathfinder on images pasted from a web page.

Can't be done. Pathfinder, as the name implies, requires paths to function. A pasted image is not a path.
