PB Crash Log Help - Mac Programming

    Default PB Crash Log Help

Howdy - I'm an old pre-OS X programmer looking to finally dive in. Back
when my wife got her Ibook I downloaded the development tools and took
an initial look, but just didn't have the time at that point to hang
with the learning curve. Some new books for Christmas got me inspired
again, but I'm finding that Project Builder, sadly, no longer runs on my
machine (OS 10.2.8, PB version 1.1). At the desktop level it just exits
silently - and the best I could find to do by way of diagnosing the
issue was to view the crash log, which appears at the end of this
message. One major caveat - I won't be able to afford upgrading to
Jaguar till April (don't ask.) I'm hoping there might be some silver
bullets out there that might allow me to tinker until then... so any
    suggestions would be very appreciated.

That sounds like a old version of the devloper tools. You probably need
    the latest ones.

Thanks for the quick response Fred. I'd assumed that the latest tools
require Jaguar, which I can't get into until April... is that wrong?
I.e., will they run on 10.2.8?

    Thanks again,

You have your cats mixed up.

Panther is 10.3. You already have Jaguar - that was 10.2.

Go to http://developer.apple.com/tools/macosxtools.html and click on
"Developer Connection" (you may need to sign up as a member - the
online version is free, and all you need.) From there, you can find
the December 2002 developer's tools, which I think are the latest
    version for 10.2.x.

    Have fun!

Well, I found the right version just as you said, and after several
attempts diskcopy managed to process the .dmg file. I ran the package
and it seemed to crunch right along - until it got down to "less than
one minute remaining," at which point it continues to spin overnight
with no apparent progress. I'm guessing I'll need to kill the thing
(which will be no mean feat since one mouse click is processed about
ever 5 minutes, and it takes about 15 to get a command prompt in
terminal.) Any other ideas? If this can't be nipped in the bud I'll
take the thread to more appropriate (not programming-centric) group.

    Thanks again,
