Either way, make sure you get enough memory. 512 MB is a good starting
point, but it can't hurt to double that amount.

Your students like Windows, and if you have decent support for this platform
and you can get a good-quality machine, the answer is obvious. Otherwise, as
Bob says it makes no difference. Neither one is faster/better/more
reliable/whatever.
