PC to MAC, MAC to PC (HELP!)

I'm having trouble opening an Indesign 2.0 document, created on a MAC, on my PC. I get the following message:
"Cannot open the file 'important_document.indd'. Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing, or the file may be open in another application."

Adobe claims platform interoperability. Do I have to do something special in order to open up this file created on a MAC, to open correctly on my PC?

Were both machines patched to 2.0.2?

Was the Mac using InDesign CS and you perhaps have 2.0.2?
