Default PDF document icons missing in Windows Explorer

    Hi,

When I look at unopened PDF documents in Windows Explorer, I just see default Windows icons, not the Adobe PDF ones. The office icons for Word and Excel documents still display as normal.

I'm not entirely sure when this happened. I've re-installed Acrobat to no effect.

Does anyone know how I get the icon back.

I'm using Windows 2000 and Acrobat 5.05. The Convert to pdf icons in Word display with no problems, as do the Acrobat icons on the desktop and when you go Start>Programs.

    Thanks, Ed

Right click on a PDF file in Windows Explorer and select properties. Near the top of the properties dialog box is the "This file is opened with... and the name of the application (Acrobat 5.05)". Click on the Modify button and reselect Acrobat 5.05, and then OK, Apply or whatever to back out.

You might have to change the application and then change back to Acrobat - can't quite remember that detail.

    Ian,

Many thanks. That's done the trick.

Yes, I did need to change the application to another then back to Acrobat, but everything's as it should be now.

    Cheers, Ed

I tried the same as change the type to something else and change it back to PDF and it did not work for me.
