Default pdf document printing with red boxes

I'm having trouble printing my pdf documents (Acrobat 8 Professional) to my HP Color LaserJet 2605dn. Most pages print with all or part of the page covered with red boxes. I'm working in a Mac OS X environment. Strangely, when I open the documents in Acrobat 7 they print fine.
Does anyone have any suggestions of how to fix this problem?

Print As Image should be a workaround for now, but we're looking in to a more permanent solution. It may be that the solution is an updated driver from HP

I posted similar comments elsewhere on the Acrobat forum.

I've had the same problem with A8 and a HP2605dn and HP2840. The red printing occurs always with A8. Both printers have freshly installed newest drivers and firmware from HP. Documents print fine using Preview or A6 - prints red only with A8. All other apps are printing ok. Also, duplex documents from A8 print the last page red and REVERSED (mirror image).

I'm running OS10.4.8 with the same results using a G5 and a new MacBook Pro.

I have spoken with HP support via email and phone and they became aware of this due to my call, but are not sure of the cause. I pointed them to this forum to read the posts here. It sounds to me like a software issue - either A8 has a bug or the HP drivers have some issue with A8. I haven't heard anything back from HP since their phone call Jan. 4th.

Does Adobe have any ideas yet?

    Dave:
Here are the workarounds that Adobe suggested:
    File Print/Advanced/Transparancy Flattener Preset/(Medium Resolution
The other suggestion was to “Print as Image” which is also a selectable option in the “advanced” window. Hope this helps! I know the suggestions have worked for me. Good luck.

I was able to correct the problem by selecting Print > Advanced > Color Profile = Same as Source (No Color Management).

Cool Re: pdf document printing with red boxes

For those looking for current info on a solution...I am using Windows 7, Adobe Acrobat 8, and an HP Color Laserjet 2605dtn. Here is what worked for me...

Choose a different color profile in Advanced Print Setup

1.Choose File > Print, and then click Advanced.
2.For Color Profile, choose U.S. Sheetfed Uncoated v2 from the drop down list.
3.Click OK to close the Advanced Print Setup dialog box, and then click OK again to print
