My department is moving from OS 9 and Quark 4 to OS X and Quark 7.
When we distilled PDFs from PS file of the Quark 7 documents, we discovered that sizes of the PDFs increased dramatically.
We used to distilled PDFs using the “Press” job option in Distiller 5 and our printers are recommending that we use the “PDF-X1a” or “Press” job options in Distiller 7.
PDFs that were normally 5MB to 25MB are over 100MB.
Is this right?
Should we be modifying the default job options?
Is there some configuration change that needs to be made when the PS file is generated?
