Default .pdf file will not import into InDesign to edit

I am using InDesign verion 2.0.2 I am trying to import a .pdf file originally created in Print Master and converted to a .pdf into InDesign so I can enlarge the page to poster size. InDesign will not load it. Says it does not have the right plug-ins or cannot read the format. Anyone else have this problem or have solved it?

    Thanks,
    Don

You can't open a PDF, you need to place it.

If that's what you are trying to do, have you tried opening it in Acrobat?

I can enlarge the page to poster size.

Do you want it printed at poster size? How about just figuring out the percentage you want it enlarged and passing that on the the printer and let them enlarge it?

I have a variation of this issue: I have a multipage PDF document and need to delete several pages. When I "place" the PDF document in InDesign, it only places the first page. How do I import the rest of the pages?

    Thanks!

Check Show Options in the Place dialog and it will let you select the page to place.

Thanks! I tried the place command in InDesign and loaded the .pdf. I would like to modify it in Acrobat, but cannot complete the installation process. Adobe and Gateway tech support determined that XP Pro was not installed properly and is blocking access to one of the subdirectories needed to complete the install. Hopefully that will be resolved soon.

After loading the file, I expanded it to poster size for a test print. Both the fonts and the graphics are becoming noticeably pizelized. Looks like I will have to fix and expand each element individually. With the pixelization in InDesign, I am concerned that it will do the same thing if a printer expands the Acrobat file and prints it. The enlargement percentages are no problem at all, just unsure of what the results are.

Being new at InDesign and .pdf doesn't help either. Part of the learning experience.

The project is Bible Study lessons in Spanish to be used in South America. I am setting them up to be printed at a low cost method. Unfortunately, color printing and low cost usually don't mix. Looking at the Risograph as a potential. Kinko's quoted about $70 a page to print and laminate, so started looking at other options. The posters will be taken to villages without electricity and used to teach groups of people. Smaller 8.5 x 11 handouts will be given to those interested. I am working from the handouts, developed in Print Master, and converting these to poster size, in such a way they can be printed.

Thanks for the response! I am now moving forward, slowly, but moving forward!

    Thanks,
    Don

Fonts cannot become pixilated, so perhaps in making the PDF you have
converted everything to bitmap. Look at how the PDF was created as the
great thing about vector images and fonts is that they scale without any
    loss in quality.
