pdf from Illustrator OK, pdf from Quark not OK
Mac OSX, Illustrator CS, Quark 6.5
We have an Illustrator file which we made into a .pdf. We placed it into a Quark file and made a .pdf. When the client printed it on their non-postscript printer, there were some strange lines that printed around some of the text (which had all been converted to curves). We did a test where we made the .pdf directly from Illustrator, and it printed just fine.
This is not an acceptable workaround for us, because now that the logo is approved we will be doing stationary, brochures, etc. in Quark and need to send the client .pdfs for approval, and my boss is adament that they need to be able to print on the non-PS printer.
I've never seen this before. Any ideas??

Re: pdf from Illustrator OK, pdf from Quark not OK
Do not convert text to curves. It can cause quality issues, almost all
the traditional reasons for doing this are obsolete in PDF workflows.

Re: pdf from Illustrator OK, pdf from Quark not OK
HEH, don't be placing PDF in Quark if your file is Adobe illustrator save as EPS then place this in Quark. Quarks library for PDF support is somewhat dragging its heels where as EPS is not even touched by Quark and passed straight into the postscript. EPS is pretty much the fall back format to get things working as expected with Quark. You can then create PDF from the PS file for printing to none PS printers. I never convert text either.
