PDF from Quark — was effects do linescreenhave?

Hello,
When creating a postscript from Quark 6 for distilling through Distiller, does the linescreen setting have any effect on what linescreen the printer can print at? For some reason I did't think the linescreen setting in Quark had any effect on the resulting Postscript/PDF?

Not 100% on this as I set all pdf's to halftoning to printer this gives full res tif output. I think quark will down sample tif's to (2 x lpi) in the postscript. eps is untouched. I prefer let distiller do what ever down sampling I require.

MArk is correct about this area when the full resolution TIFF option is
left OFF.

However, the major factor is the PRESERVE HALFTONE setting in Distiller.
If this is left ON - it will indeed carry through the LPI values -
typically not a good idea ....

These are OFF in PRESS and PDF/X-1a:2001 settings ...

Yea, see, this all makes sense. I rip PDFs all the time following CREO/Prinergy stadards and linescreen is never an issue. But, for some reason this printer said they were only able to output at 60 linescreen from the PDF I sent them, and I've never had that before and I just thought it was weird.
Anyway, thanks for the assistance!
