    Default PDF inside PDF problem

    1. I've made a Photoshop CS2 CMYK document that contains a shape layer (vectors) with a soft drop shadow.

    2. I've done a Save As PDF (Press Quality) of this PSD and Placed it (the PDF) in an Illustrator CS2 CMYK document behind other objects. (Normally, I'd simply Place the native PSD; in this case I wanted to preserve the crisp vectors all the way through to output on press and the only formats that preserve vectors in a situation like this are PDF or EPS.)

    3. Now, with the art complete, I Save As PDF (Press Quality) from Illustrator. When I open the "final" PDF in Acrobat 7.0.7 Pro, eveything is in place except the Photoshop-generated PDF. It's MIA... not a hint of it anywhere.

Would someone be kind enough to explain? And maybe help me solve this dilemma?

    Thanks.

[Repeated answer from your other posting.]

    Doug:

Did you embed the Photoshop PDF in the Illustrator file?

I just tried something similar and the Photoshop vectors remained as vectors for me.

See if it works better if you combine the Photoshop PDF and the Illustrator objects in an InDesign document instead of in Illustrator?
