Default PDF looses graphics on the page

I am experiencing a problem never encountered before with PDF from clients using InDesign . We insert pages from PDF as icons into other PDFs. We have never had an issue with this until we receive PDF from a client using InDesign CS3 (MacOS I believe). There are graphics on the original PDF that drop-out when the page is imported as an icon. Flattening, optimizing, etc does not seem to overcome the problem - Any ideas or suggestions ? PDF is version 1.5 in both the source and target PDFs.

You may want to ask in the ID forum.

In the meantime, have you considered creating a Job Options File and sending that to your client. That way, you control the PDF settings.
