PDF to Excel
I have a financial report in PDF format that has many lists in columns with text and figures. I would like to export this to Excel or another spreadsheet program such as the one in AppleWorks.
If I just copy and paste the information, since the various columns of data are not tab-separated (there is only a "space" marker between column info), the data of each row pastes all clustered together in one column.
Is it possible to export information from a PDF in such a way that columns of data will be tab-separated or in some other way formatted to make it easy for a program like Excel to acquire the information?

Re: PDF to Excel
My first reaction would be to export to Word, and use the find/replace function to replace the spaces by tab marks. Although I seem to recall having read about programs that promise to do the conversion -don't know how well or badly.

Re: PDF to Excel
If you had Acrobat Professional then you could select the Excel spreadsheet that is in the PDF and Control+Click. From the Context menu select "Open Table in Spreadsheet" and it will open in MS Excel.
