Default pdf viewer plugin fails after update

After updating to AcroProf 7.0.8 (from 7.0.?) I can no longer display pdfs in Safari 1.3.2 under OS 10.3.9 on my desktop G5. The Schubert plug-in works fine if I remove AdobePDFViewer.plugin. I have used Detect and Repair, and set the Display PDF setting in Acro Prefs. Strangely, with the same software versions, AdobePDFViewer performs as expected on my G4 laptop. Any ideas?

    Graeme,

I hesitate to ask if you fixed permissions. But consider yourself
asked. Try loging in as a different user. If that works, its a
    permissions problem.

Reasonable suggestion, but not the problem -- fixed permissions, but still get blank window when clicking an url to a pdf.

    Graeme,

Try removing the Adobe plug-in and ask Acrobat to Detect and Repair.
