PDF with text fields problem (illustrator)

Hello,

My first post! I will admit that it is a bit hard to follow the format of this forum vs. others I use.
I appologize if this question is common knowledge.

I created a document in illustrator and saved as PDF. I then added text fields in Acrobat.
I went back to illustrator to make a graphical change and then resaved. Once reopened in Acrobat,
the text fields were gone. I am sure that I am saving something incorrectly. Please share your wisdom.

Best not to open the original Illy file in Acrobat. Keep the Illy file native (.ai) then save out as a PDF to add form fields. If you have changes to make, make them in the .ai, "save as" to a new pdf, then use "replace pages" to replace the background PDF.
