Default PDF Writer Printing Error 'This document failed to print'

I'm using XP and Acrobat 5.0. Everytime I print to the PDF Writer, I get a message that "This document failed to print." When I open the printer, the status reads "Error-printing." However, the pdf file is created. It's simply that the message is annoying. I've tried reinstalling, uninstalling and reinstalling, and updates. Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the suggestions...I apparently already have 5.0.5. Also, what's the difference between the printer and the distiller. It seems like using the distiller takes much longer.

Think of PDFWriter as a screen capture utility that converts to PDF. It's obsolete and no longer sold. In fact is was only available as a custom install in Acrobat 5. Distiller make take longer but it is the way to go to make good quality PDFs.

    Dominic,

If you have the identical issue, use the identical solution - print to the Acrobat Distiller printer.

Unfortunately, when I print to the Distiller, I get the same error. AcroTray is loaded in my Startup as well.

Yes, when I print to Distiller, I get the same message...on all my computers (all xp) that have acrobat. The pdfwriter problem is just with one computer. the difference is that the pdfwriter actually creates the file...the distiller does not. thanks.

I receive a log error when printing to Distiller and it does not create a pdf file.

    The log file reads:

%%[ Error: rangecheck; OffendingCommand: setcolorspace ]%%

    Stack:
    1.0
    -mark-

%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%

Does anyone know what this error means?

I uninstalled a corrupt font, re-installed Adobe Acrobat and it worked for me. Could have been either solution, but it worked! Good luck with it.

When I tried to print website with Acrobat7.0, I saw similar prompts:

    %%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
    25mwoz not found, using Courier.
%%[ Error: typecheck; OffendingCommand: xshow ]%%

    Stack:
    [200 0]
    (N?1)

%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%

I restart my computer several times and re-install Acrobat7.0 again. The problem still exists. What happened to Acrobat7.0? It worked very well just a few hours ago.
